
Seeing is Believing
37 million people in the world are visually impaired, and yet a staggering 75% of blindness is avoidable. Seeing is Believing is Standard Chartered's global fund raising campaign aiming to help eradicate avoidable blindness. Key milestones:
- Launched in 2003 to celebrate the Bank's 150th anniversary.
- One million sight restorations were completed, and a global total of US$6 million was raised by World Sight Day 2006.
- By 2010, we aim to raise US$10 million for 10 million people across 20 countries with a focus on prevention and education of blindness in addition to sight restoration.

Standard Chartered partners with ORBIS International in Hong Kong and has raised over HK$10 million since 2004 for education, training and sight restoration projects in mainland China.
